Privacy Policy
This policy explains who we are, what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and how you can ask us to access, correct or delete it. Last updated 28 September 2026.
SG Garden Notes is an independent visitor journal published by Mei Tan from Singapore. We are not affiliated with any attraction or its operator. We do not sell tickets, we do not run a booking engine, and we never process payments. There are no commercial transactions on this website.

If you write about this policy, use that address. We do not have a separate data-protection officer; Mei Tan handles requests personally.
2. What this site is (and is not)
The pages on this domain are personal opinion and practical notes about walking in the Marina Bay gardens. They are not official visitor information. They are not an offer of admission. If you need tickets, opening hours or a complaint about facilities, contact the operator through their own channels. We cannot see their records and we cannot change them.
3. Personal data we collect
We collect as little as the site can run on.
- Contact form. If you submit the form on the contact page we collect your name, email address and message, and the time of sending. That is so Mei can reply. We do not ask for payment-card numbers, identification numbers, or copies of tickets. Please do not send them.
- Server logs. The host may record IP address, browser type, date and time, and the page requested. This is ordinary web-server logging used to keep the site up, to investigate abuse, and to diagnose faults. We do not use those logs to build advertising profiles.
- Cookies. Described in our Cookie Policy. We do not run advertising, analytics or social-network pixels on this journal.
We do not buy mailing lists. We do not run an email newsletter from this site. We do not create accounts for readers.
4. Why we collect it (purpose and legal basis)
Under Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA):
- Contact-form data is collected with your consent when you press send, for the purpose of correspondence.
- Server logs are collected as a legitimate need to operate and secure a public website.
- Strictly necessary cookies, if set by the host, are for security and delivery of the page you asked for.
We do not use your data for marketing, profiling, automated decision-making, or sale to anyone.
5. Who we share it with
We do not sell, rent or trade personal data. We do not pass contact-form messages to any attraction operator.
The website is hosted on a virtual server. The hosting provider processes technical data as our processor, only to keep the machine running. Email you send us is stored on that server as a correspondence log. If the law requires us to disclose data (for example a valid order of a Singapore court), we will do so to the extent required.
6. Where it is stored and for how long
The server is used to publish this journal from Singapore. Correspondence logs are kept only as long as they are useful for a reply or a short record of what was asked — ordinarily not more than twenty-four months, unless a message is needed longer to handle a complaint about the site itself. Server logs follow the host’s ordinary rotation (typically weeks, not years). We then delete or anonymise what we no longer need.
7. Transfers
We do not operate a network of overseas marketing vendors. Hosting and DNS may involve infrastructure outside Singapore (for example a content-delivery network in front of the origin server). Where that happens it is for delivery of the public pages, not for selling your details.
8. Your rights
Subject to the PDPA, you may:
- ask whether we hold personal data about you;
- request access to it;
- request correction of it;
- withdraw consent for us to keep a contact-form message (we will then delete it, unless we must retain it to handle a legal claim);
- lodge a complaint with the Personal Data Protection Commission of Singapore if you believe we have not handled your data lawfully.
Write to [email protected] from the same address you used on the form, or use the contact page. We aim to respond within thirty days.
9. Children
This journal is written for adults planning a walk. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If a parent believes a child has sent us a message, write to us and we will delete it.
10. Security
The public site is served over HTTPS. Correspondence is stored on the server with ordinary access controls. No method of transmission over the internet is perfectly secure; we do not ask you to send identity documents or payment details, and you should not.
11. Third-party sites
Links to maps, search engines or an operator’s own website are provided for convenience. Those sites have their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for them and we are not affiliated with any attraction or its operator.
12. Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after a change means you have read the new version.
